Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between therapy and coaching?
While both approaches can be helpful in increasing insight, self-awareness, and solutions here are some key differences:
Therapy:
Focusses on extensively processing the emotional and psychological blocks or unhealthy patterns that keep you from moving forward
Includes mental health diagnoses according to the DSM-5
Explores the "why" behind what you’re experiencing, and supports emotional healing and mental health using evidence-based approaches.
Coaching:
Focusses on accountability and structure to make decisions and take action
Doesn't require a mental health diagnosis
Explores "what now?" and helps you take thoughtful action based on your goals, values, and natural strengths.
What is the difference between EMDR and Brainspotting?
EMDR and Brainspotting are both powerful, body-based therapies used to process trauma, anxiety, and emotional blocks. They share some similarities but differ in how they access and process distressing experiences.
EMDR:
Follows a standardized 8-phase protocol
Uses bilateral stimulation (eye movements, tapping, or sounds)
Helps process specific past events or traumatic memories
Especially good for PTSD, single-incident trauma, phobias, and performance issues
Brainspotting:
More open and intuitive
Uses sustained eye gaze to access “brainspots”—eye positions linked to stored trauma in the body
Less directive—follows your internal process and cues from the body
Especially good for Complex trauma, somatic symptoms, creative blocks, performance anxiety, and preverbal experiences
